South Korean Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs Song Miryung was satisfied with the cultivation and processing of export carrots in Duc Chinh commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province.
South Korean Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs Song Miryung and her entourage had a field trip to a carrot production region in Duc Chinh commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province on March 22 morning.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan informed the South Korean delegation of Hai Duong’s 105,000 ha of agricultural land and convenient transportation system that allows quick trade and transportation of goods.
The province's agriculture is carried out in the direction of producing large-scale concentrated goods and applying high technology and VietGAP and GlobalGAP safety standards, according to Quan.
The locality’s agricultural products have been exported to markets with high quality requirements such as South Korea, the US, and Europe, typically the export of lychees and carrots to South Korea.
The province annually grows about 1,500 ha of carrots, with an output of 80,000 - 100,000 tons, worth about 800 billion VND, 40% of which are exported to South Korea. Therefore, Hai Duong always considers South Korea the most important market that determines the success of the province's carrot production and export.
In addition, the South Korean Government has offered about 2.6 million USD in non-refundable aid to build and upgrade workshops, install equipment lines for preliminary processing and classification of vegetables, and cold storage at Duc Chinh and Tan Minh Duc cooperatives, helping the two cooperatives preserve agricultural products at the highest quality, meeting market requirements.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, the vice chairman suggested that the South Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs continue support for Hai Duong’s carrots and quality agricultural products to be exported smoothly to South Korea as well as attention and assistance to build many more facilities for preliminary processing and preservation of agricultural products in Hai Duong province.
“Hai Duong province is committed to creating all favorable conditions for South Korean enterprises to cooperate and invest in the province, especially in the field of cultivation and processing of agricultural products,” said Quan.
South Korean Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs Song Miryung was satisfied with the production of carrot products for export in the province after visiting the safe carrot growing area and carrot processing facility of Duc Chinh Cooperative.
The minister hoped that Hai Duong would produce many more quality carrot products with the available facilities and equipment. After the field trip, cooperation between South Korea and Hai Duong will be closer and more effective, she believed.
The minister also expected that Vietnam in general and Hai Duong in particular would pay more attention to South Korea’s agricultural products and that the province would continue to create favorable conditions for Korean investors in the province.
