The Republic of Korea (RoK) officially lifted its ban on the import of some Vietnamese agricultural products from December 21, including carrots.
Carrot exported to the Republic of Korea must meet quarantine regulations and not be infected with Radopholus similis
This is good news for carrot growing areas in Hai Duong as the harvest season is drawing near.
Earlier, the Plant Protection Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development technically negotiated to remove the RoK’s ban.
After negotiation and provision of documents as required, the RoK lifted the ban on the condition that the Plant Protection Department conducts close inspection to ensure that shipments exported to the RoK are not infected with Radopholus similes.
There are nearly 1,300 ha of carrots in the province, mainly in Nam Sach and Cam Giang districts and Chi Linh city.
The output of carrots this crop is estimated at nearly 80,000 tons, equivalent to the previous crop. About 80% of the output will be exported to such countries as the RoK, Japan, Singapore, and Middle East countries.
