Farmers in Duc Chinh commune are focusing on harvesting main-crop carrots for export

According to a representative of Duc Chinh Commune Agricultural Service Cooperative in Cam Giang district, about 3,000 tons of carrots have been exported to South Korea, Malaysia, the Middle East, etc. this month, accounting for about 80% of the harvested carrots.

Due to the effect of prolonged cold weather, carrots grew slowly, resulting in later harvest than previous years. The sold carrots were mainly planted in other localities.

By January 30, farmers in Duc Chinh commune had harvested more than 50 ha of carrots, accounting for 15% of the total area of carrots in the commune. Farmers in the commune are now focusing on harvesting main-crop carrots for export.

Carrots are priced at about 5,000 VND/ kg, up 1,000 – 2,000 VND/ kg compared to the time before the Lunar New Year. Farmers will make a profit of 5 – 6 million VND on each sao (360 m²) of carrots.

It is expected that in the coming time, the export of carrots to South Korea, Japan, etc. will be promoted.
