Pupils encouraged to be creative, do research

The provincial Youngsters, Teenagers, and Children’s Invention Contest held by the provincial People’s Committee and the High School Pupils’ Scientific and Technological Invention Contest organized by the Department of Education and Training every year provide interesting playgrounds for youngsters, teenagers, and children keen on scientific research.

The Division of Education and Training of Kim Thanh district has actively propagandized contests on its website and directed schools to actively respond to them.

Before contests, the division organizes meetings to hear pupils from various schools present their ideas and inventions and encourages schools to help pupils realize interesting and highly applicable ideas.

The division’s staff members and teachers supplement and offer suggestions to weak ideas. Regarding models and products chosen to participate in the provincial contest, the division shall set up a consulting group to help pupils perfect their inventions and ideas.

All instructors and pupils whose inventions and products win prizes from district to Central levels are timely commended and rewarded by People’s Committees at district and commune levels and Learning Encouragement Associations at all levels, creating motivation for teachers and pupils to actively engage in scientific research.

Each school in Kim Thanh has a different way to arouse pupils’ passion for scientific research.

Ngu Phuc Junior High School set up the Scientific Invention Club four years ago, attracting the participation of many pupils. Teacher Bui Van Tung, head of the club, said it organizes activities every two months for pupils to express their ideas.

The school’s pupils are very interested in participating in the club for satisfaction of their love and passion for scientific research. Many models and products of them have been put into practice with high efficiency.

For years, Kim Thanh has been one of districts having a large number of models and products competing in the provincial contests and winning many high prizes.

Kim Thanh sent 31 models and products to the 16th provincial Youngsters, Teenagers, and Children’s Invention Contest (2021 – 2022), the most in the province, two of them grabbed third prizes, and three consolation prizes.

Han said because her paternal grandmother grew a lot of peanuts, so she wanted to reduce her labor and pain caused by peanut shelling. The school board backed Han’s idea and assigned teacher Nguyen Thi Thanh to help her.
