31 longan growing areas in Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province have been granted production unit codes (PUC), up 27 codes over 2020.
Chi Linh city has recently coordinated with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize a training course on the process of granting, managing, and maintaining PUCs for longan growing areas, the harvest, pre-processing, and packing of longans for export.
More than 200 trainees of the course were informed about general regulations on plant quarantine and food safety control in countries importing fresh longans and how to keep a farming diary and use fertilizers and plant protection products safely and effectively.
There are 747 ha of longan in Chi Linh city with an estimated output of over 15,000 tons.
31 out of 39 longan growing areas in the city have been granted PUCs for export to China, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, and Japan, covering more than 271 ha and up 27 codes over 2020, the first year Chi Linh longan was given a PUC for export.
