Hai Duong will create favorable conditions for AEON Group’s subsidiaries to reach a consensus and long-term cooperation in purchasing and exporting lychees, said Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan.
Quan made the commitment at a working session with a delegation from AEON Group’s AEON Global Merchandising Co., Ltd. and AEON Topvalu Vietnam Co., Ltd. on June 2 on the purchase of lychees and some other staple farm produce of the province.
Besides lychee, a specialty with many historical and cultural values, Hai Duong has many other key agricultural products that can meet the enterprises’ consumption and export requirements, such as rice, carrot, longan, banana, onion, and garlic.
The vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee suggested that the businesses pay attention to these items and coordinate with the province for consumption, especially when AEON Group is about to build a mall in Hai Duong.

He also expected that the companies would continue to seek investment opportunities in the province’s agricultural sector and frequently share experience, cooperate, and transfer technology in production and preservation of agricultural products.
“Your companies should straightforwardly discuss any problems arising during coordination in consumption and export of lychees and other staple agricultural products of Hai Duong for timely settlement,” said Quan.
Director-general of AEON Topvalu Vietnam Co., Ltd. Shiotani Yuichiro affirmed that Hai Duong’s lychees are of good quality, meeting requirements for export to Japan and sale at AEON malls and stores in Vietnam.
The company wished to make an association and cooperation plan for long-term distribution and export of Hai Duong’s lychees, said Shiotani.
The firm exported 23.1 tons of Hai Duong’s fresh lychees to Japan in 2022 and intends to export another 25.7 tons this year.

In particular, there are 42 PUCs for lychees covering 492 ha with an output of over 3,300 tons and 13 PUCs for carrots with a scale of 130 ha and an output of 7,800 tons.
The province also has two packing facilities meeting standards and conditions for export to Japan.
Earlier, the two enterprises had a field trip to a lychee region in Thanh Son commune, Thanh Ha district, on June 1 thanks to the connection of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and Red Dragon Co., Ltd.
The region, about 17 ha in area, belongs to Ameii Vietnam Cooperative and specializes in lychee cultivation for export to Japan.
