Local authorities will review lychee purchasing points, parking lots, and places that can be requisitioned as parking lots to serve the lychee season.

The People’s Committee of Thanh Ha district, Hai Duong province, on March 16 discussed measures to arrange container parking lots and concentrated lychee purchasing points to ensure traffic safety during the 2023 lychee harvesting and selling season.

Leaders of the district People’s Committee directed local authorities to review lychee purchasing points, parking lots, and places that can be requisitioned as parking lots to serve the lychee season to soon work out improvement plans.

Locals will be mobilized so as not to use public land to build shacks for lychee purchase to avoid prolonged congestion like last year.

Specialized divisions were asked to propose the provincial authorities to renovate both sides of road 390’s section from Hop Thanh bridge to Thanh Cuong commune for serious degradation.

Communes growing lychees along road 390 were required to proactively devise plans to guarantee traffic safety.

Thanh Quang commune shall check the local stadium to make a plan to turn it into a temporary parking lot.

The commune is home to the only one parking lot that can accommodate about 20 container trucks in Thanh Ha district.

The district has more than 3,000 ha of lychees, of which 400 ha have met Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices (VietGAP) and 50 ha have been certified to satisfy Global Good Agricultural Practices (GlobalGAP).

The district’s lychee output in 2022 reached 44,000 tons, bringing about nearly 1,400 billion VND in revenue.

* On the morning of the same day, the district authorities and the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism co-organized a 2023 training course on tourism guidance for 15 members of the district collaborative tour guide team.
