Almost all foreign-invested (FDI) businesses in Hai Duong considered the province’s ability to supply water and electricity good, reaching 92.5% and 82.5%, respectively.
This is the result of a survey conducted by PhD Le Phuong Nam from the Institute of Economics and Development under the Vietnam National University of Agriculture for his scientific topic “Assessing the impact of FDI on socio-economic development and proposing measures to attract FDI to Hai Duong province.”
The survey also revealed that the province’s banking and support service system received good reviews from 75% of the FDI enterprises.
About 60% of the respondents rated Hai Duong’s investment attraction and promotion policies at a good level, and 70% of them thought that the province’s land rent, management, service, and wastewater treatment costs are reasonable…
Nam and his colleagues also proposed six main measures to attract FDI to Hai Duong province more effectively, namely infrastructure improvement, perfection of investment attraction policies, enhancement of manpower quality, intensification of investment promotion activities, completion of the province’s production and business support service system, and improvement of organization and management.
Notably, the measure of infrastructure improvement included the acceleration of the approval of detailed planning for a number of industrial parks at favorable locations to carry out establishment procedures and start infrastructure construction; completion of renovating and upgrading provincial roads, water supply and drainage systems, electrical systems, and services outside industrial parks and clusters; etc.
The team also suggested attraction of industrial park infrastructure chain investors, banking and financial service providers, and leading distributors successfully operating in Vietnam to Hai Duong; restructuring of vocational training establishments to suit the scale and demand of industries attractive to FDI, such as construction, mechanics, and electronics; and forestalling of some new FDI trends like tourism and hotels.
This is a very meaningful topic in the context that Hai Duong is strengthening solutions to attract investment and improve the investment environment, the provincial Department of Science and Technology assessed.
The measures, put forth based on the survey of FDI enterprises in Hai Duong, will be practical suggestions for the provincial departments to improve the effectiveness of FDI attraction to the province in the time to come.
