Pham Thi Bich Lien, a teashop owner in Hai Duong city, Hai Duong province, has shown her patriotism right through her profession.

She made a “giant” moon cake weighing 1.2 kg, 20 cm long, 4 cm thick, and imprinted with Trong Dong (Bronze Drum) patterns and an S-shaped Vietnam image, including Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, to celebrate the August Revolution and National Day.

She prepared sugar syrup a month in advance and mixed it with wheat flour, cooking oil, and peanut butter to form a soft and very fragrant crust with a beautiful color.

The stuffing was made from traditional ingredients such as lard, jams, lemon leaves, etc. The lard was marinated in sugar for a long time to make the cake deliciously crispy.

The experienced baker was successful in her first try.

Lien made the meaningful cake as a gift for her family and friends and for sale on this special occasion.

Her post about the cake on Facebook has attracted tens of thousands of comments and a lot of orders.

“The cake reminds me of generations of Vietnamese people who sacrificed their lives to protect this land, so I bought some for my parents and for offering to my ancestors to express gratitude to my roots,” said Pham Khanh Linh, a customer of Lien in Hai Duong city.
