Hai Duong province is forecast to experience moderate rain, even heavy rain and thunderstorms in some areas, from now to the afternoon of July 17.
Hai Duong province is being affected by the northern edge of a tropical convergence zone over the Central region combined with a tropical depression in the middle of the East Sea, which tends to move northward, and stronger wind convergence at high altitudes, according to the provincial Hydrometeorological Station.
The combination will cause moderate rain in Hai Duong from now to the afternoon of July 17, including downpours and thunderstorms in some areas, with common rainfall of 30 – 60 mm, the station forecast.
There is a risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas such as Chi Linh city and Kinh Mon provincial town, and flooding in low-lying and urban areas like Hai Duong city because of heavy rain in a short period of time, experts warned.
Whirlwinds, lightning, hail, and strong winds are predicted to occur during rainstorms, which may affect people's daily activities, damage houses, traffic works, and infrastructure, reduce visibility, and cause slipperiness and traffic accidents.
