Hai Duong and Vientiane authorities have agreed to deepen the special relationship between the two provinces.
The Vietnam - Laos friendship was built and nurtured through many hardships and challenges, and has become increasingly close as an invaluable asset of the two peoples, Secretary of the Hai Duong provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang said at a meeting between Hai Duong leaders and a delegation from Vientiane, Laos on September 18 afternoon.
Hai Duong and Vientiane signed a cooperation and twinning agreement in 1984, marking a meaningful first step in the relationship between the two localities, according to Thang.
“The solidarity and friendship between Hai Duong and Vientiane have become increasingly profound and strong over the years. Cooperative relations are increasingly developing and expanding with many socio-economic programs and projects for mutual development,” said Thang.
Governor Khamphanh Sitthidampha, on behalf of leaders and people of Vientiane province, expressed sympathies to northern localities of Vietnam in general and Hai Duong province in particular for their typhoon-caused losses.
The Vientiane leader believed that Hai Duong people will soon overcome difficulties, gradually stabilize their lives, and continue to thrive.
Governor Khamphanh added that Vientiane has great potential to develop industry, agriculture, and tourism. He hoped that Hai Duong province will pay attention to calling on enterprises to invest in Vientiane. The province is ready to welcome and create all favorable conditions for Hai Duong businesses.
Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang affirmed that Hai Duong is always willing to share and cooperate in all aspects with Vientiane province.
“It will contribute to further deepening the fine relationship between Vietnam and Laos in general and between Hai Duong and Vientiane provinces in particular,” Thang said.
At the end of the meeting, Hai Duong and Vientiane leaders signed a memorandum of cooperation for the 2024-2028 period in 11 fields, including education, health, investment – trade, agriculture – forestry, justice, information – communication, etc.
On the evening of the same day, the Vientiane delegation attended the opening ceremony of the Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2024 at the invitation of Hai Duong province.
