Only 30% of production is consumed in the province through distribution to wholesale markets and kitchens of industrial zones and schools.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong province, 70% of the provincial aquatic products are consumed in neighboring provinces and cities, and a few in China through unofficial ways.
The remaining 30% of production is consumed in the province through distribution to wholesale markets and kitchens of industrial zones and schools.
However, the sale of aquatic products in the province is facing difficulties because of the Covid-19 epidemic. Demand for food in the society has dropped, and restaurants and eateries had to suspend operations for epidemic prevention.
Despite difficulties of the market and lower selling prices compared to the same period last year, the price of aquaculture feed has still sharply increased.
There are 11,800 ha of aquaculture and 7,000 fish cages with a total cage volume of 820,000 m3 in the province.
It is estimated that by the end of this June, there will have been about 15,500 tons of mature fish qualified for harvest and the output of fish cage will have been around 3,600 tons.
