Hai Duong province has been moving to boost trade promotion since the start of the lychee crop, including sustaining and expanding export markets.
PHC-granted facilities basically meet the packaging need for export of fresh lychee
24 packing house codes (PHC) have been granted to 13 facilities in Hai Duong, including 21 codes eligible for fresh lychee export, according to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Specifically, 13 PHCs serve export to China with a capacity of 974 tons/day; two for Japan, Australia, and New Zealand each; one for the US; and one for Thailand.
These facilities basically meet the packaging need for export of the province’s fresh lychee.
The provincial Plant Protection Sub-department has reminded the facilities to prepare all conditions for safe and smooth export of fresh lychee.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has asked the Plant Protection Department to grant another three PHCs to meet the demand for lychee shipments to China.
Other facilities in need can apply to the Plant Protection Department for PHCs.
PHC is an identifier for a packing facility and plays an extremely important role along with the production unit code (PUC) as some countries only import Vietnamese fruits having PHCs and PUCs.
Hai Duong is home to approximately 8,900 ha of lychee, including 1,119 ha provided with 199 PUCs and 111 ha cultivated under GlobalGAP eligible for export.
The province has been moving to boost trade promotion since the start of the lychee crop, including sustaining and expanding export markets and connecting with localities nationwide, shopping centers, big supermarket systems, and e-commerce platforms to advertise local lychee.
