Dinh Viet Thang, Head of the CAA, issued the directive following a Jeju Air crash on December 29 that claimed 179 lives and an Azerbaijan Airlines crash on December 25 that resulted in 38 fatalities.

With increased air travel expected during the upcoming Tet (New Year) holiday, Thang emphasized the importance of preventive measures.

Airlines have been instructed to conduct thorough maintenance checks on their aircraft and strictly follow aviation regulations, especially under adverse weather conditions.

Additionally, carriers are required to establish alternative flight routes to avoid airspaces affected by armed conflicts and to monitor weather conditions to adjust schedules as necessary.

The Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation has been directed to ensure that its personnel comply with aviation rules. The Airports Corporation of Vietnam and Van Don Airport in the northern province of Quang Ninh, home to Ha Long Bay, have been assigned to inspect and maintain the condition of runways.

Airports nationwide have also been tasked with managing wildlife activity near runways to mitigate the risk of bird strikes. Authorities have emphasized the need to enforce regulations preventing unauthorized intrusions into airport areas.
