Hai Duong seeks investment at Vietnam – UK Business Forum

Hai Duong welcomes UK investors to the province for production of hi-tech industrial, supporting industrial, and processed products with eco-friendly technology, said Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trieu The Hung while attending the UK – Vietnam Business Forum in London, the UK on October 16.

The chairman thanked the UK Government, its Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK, and authorities of the two countries for assisting investors in promoting investment and trade in Hai Duong.

The province is seeking investment in manufacturing solar panels, high energy density storage devices… in the energy industry and biotechnology systems in food processing and preservation, biosensor products in environmental industrial fields…in bioindustry, according to Hung.

Hai Duong is also interested in the field of electronics - digital technology, including equipment, software, solutions, platforms, and services for digital government, digital economy, and digital society, Hung added.

The official also suggested that investors pay attention to building trade centers, exhibition fairs, and logistics centers in the province.

“Hai Duong will always accompany investors throughout their investment exploration, production, and business in the province,” Hung pledged.

The chairman of the provincial People’s Committee also gave a brief overview of Hai Duong’s potential and strengths for cooperation on socio-economic development.

Hai Duong is home to 75 industrial parks and clusters with a total planned area of over 5,600 ha.

The province is planning to develop a dynamic industrial zone on more than 9,200 ha of land to attract large investment projects with modern and clean technology.

There are more than 18,000 active businesses and 518 foreign-invested projects with a total capital of nearly 10 billion USD from 27 countries and territories in Hai Duong, including two projects from the UK with a total capital of over 53.26 million USD.

UK businesses are typical examples in abiding by Vietnamese law, have friendly and open relationships with the government and people of Hai Duong and responsible, modern, and professional working styles, always care about workers' lives, etc.

Before the forum, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trieu The Hung and his entourage paid a working visit to the Vietnamese Embassy in the UK.

This is part of the provincial delegation’s working trip to the UK, Belgium, and France from October 15 – 24 for trade and investment promotion.

The delegation is expected to participate in a conference between Vietnamese and Belgian enterprises on October 18 and a Vietnam - France business forum on October 20.

Nam Tai International and Jemmtec Vietnam are two UK-invested limited liability companies in Hai Duong.

Nam Tai International Co., Ltd. specializes in producing garments, building the technical infrastructure of Phu Thai industrial park, and renting workshops with 48.66 million USD in capital.

Jemmtec Vietnam Co., Ltd. manufactures heat-resistant ceramics for various industries and ceramic-based catalysts for the petrochemical industry with a budget of 4.6 million USD and offers related technical consultancy.

Hai Duong-based businesses’ turnover from exports to the UK reached 178.5 million USD in 2022 and about 116 million USD in the first nine months of 2023, accounting for 1.7% and 1.6% of the total export turnover of the province, respectively.
