The news was announced by the Statistics Office of Hai Duong province at a press conference on June 29 morning.
In the first half of the year, despite the impact of the pandemic and a surge in the price of input materials, the province's economic growth rate remained high (11.8%).
Specifically, industry posted an increase of 17.9% (contributing 8.46 percentage points); construction, 16.5% (0.75 percentage points); services, 8.1% (2.17 percentage points); agriculture, forestry, and fishery, 3.1% (0.41 percentage points); and product tax, 0.3% (0.02 percentage points).
According to the Statistics Office, the economic growth rate in the first quarter reached 14.8% thanks to strong recovery of industrial production and services in the context of the post-pandemic reopening of the global economy.
The growth rate in the second quarter was estimated at 9.2%, lower than the first quarter but still high and equivalent to the time when there was no Covid-19 pandemic (9.1%/year in the 2015 – 2019 period).
In general, the provincial economy overcame a lot of challenges in the context of a sharp increase in the price of some input materials and many necessities to maintain the growth rate in the leading group of the country.
As forecast, if the province's economic growth rate in the second half of the year meets the set target (9.4%), the province's growth rate in the whole year will reach 10.5%.
