Hai Duong province has defined a number of key tasks to develop platforms for digital transformation, said Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang at a conference on artificial intelligence last August 18.

“Priority will be given to some core technologies that can take shortcuts and make strong breakthroughs like financial technology (fintech), artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, and cloud computing to create new business and management models and high-value products and services,” said Thang.

The province has been gradually building an e-government towards digital government, digital economy, and digital society with the application of AI and big data technology to change the way of operation, direction, and administration from traditional models to a digital environment.

Hai Duong ranked 13th out of 63 provinces and cities in the country in the 2022 Digital Transformation Index (DTI) rankings, up one place over the previous year, the National Committee on Digital Transformation has announced.

In particular, Hai Duong was placed 4th nationwide in the first time the Ministry of Information and Communications assessed public service portals of ministries, branches, and localities across the country.

The province is providing 1,889 online public services, including 581 full-process services (level 4) and 630 others integrated on the national public service portal.

By the end of June, the province had put 89% of documents on cyberspace, a surge of 33% over the end of 2022, and came 12th in the country in non-cash payment.

Hai Duong city is one of the leading localities in the province in digital transformation when requiring all communes and wards to process all administrative procedures online right at the beginning of 2023.

Tu Ky district takes the lead in the country in organizing Digital Citizens' Day and exemplifies the way to help people carry out online administrative procedures with digital signature services and use e-commerce platforms.

Director of the provincial Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Cao Thang expects that the province’s DTI will rank 12th in the country in 2023 and soon reach the top 10.

The department has proposed the province continue improving infrastructure for digital government, departments and branches actively apply information systems and databases of ministries and Central bodies for record digitization and data connection to achieve the target.
