More than 2,000 teachers and nearly 99,000 students of over 300 junior and senior high schools in Hai Duong province participated in the ‘English Self-study Month’ program.
The Hai Duong Department of Education and Training and Atlantic Group co-organized the closing ceremony of the “English Self-study Month” program for junior and senior high schools in the province for the 2024 - 2025 academic year at the Xu Dong Cultural Center on May 17.
Over 300 junior and senior high schools in the province registered to participate in the month, with more than 2,000 teachers and nearly 99,000 students involved, accounting for 47.6% of the total students in the province.
In the official study phase, nearly 37,500 students completed English proficiency tests, making up almost 38% of those who registered, and close to 27,000 students joined in Academic English, English Foundation, and IELTS courses.
Additionally, 752 teachers took English proficiency tests, and 483 teachers engaged in online learning and training programs across the same courses.
Leaders of the provincial Department of Education and Training highlighted the program’s encouraging outcomes, noting several key achievements.
Many units implemented creative, flexible, and effective learning models that connected teachers, students, and parents. Numerous students demonstrated strong self-motivation, taking early steps toward developing independent study skills.
In response to the program, most schools in the province organized self-study activities with flexible and innovative approaches, suitable to their specific conditions.
Several schools actively embraced the initiative, receiving strong support and oversight from school leadership, teachers, and students, contributing to fostering a culture of foreign language self-learning and laying the foundation for a broader self-directed learning ecosystem across the province.
Running from April 11 to May 8, Hai Duong’s “English Self-Study Month” marked the beginning of a new chapter, where learning is no longer constrained by time, space, or subject, but instead becomes a habit, a necessity, and a way of life for each resident of Hai Duong.
On this occasion, the organizing committee presented awards to 99 junior high students, 33 senior high students, 11 teachers, six schools, and two district-level Education and Training Divisions for outstanding achievements during the program.
Additionally, Five-Star E-Learning JSC. and Vietnam Television’s “Tam Long Viet” Fund awarded 120 scholarships to Hai Duong students, each of which was a six-month English course at the company worth 2.4 million VND.
This was the first time the “English Self-Study Month” program had been implemented in Hai Duong, in a joint effort by the provincial Department of Education and Training and Atlantic Group.
