Realizing Central bodies' direction, the provincial Party Committee's Standing Board on June 15, 2022 decided to establish the provincial Steering Board for Anti-corruption (hereinafter referred to as the Steering Board) with 15 members, including one head and five deputy heads.

At the first meeting of the Steering Board on July 7, Mr. Pham Xuan Thang, Member of the Central Party Committee, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People's Council, Head of the Steering Board, affirmed that the highest objective of the establishment of the Steering Board was prevention, fighting from prevention, focusing on preventing and fighting deteriorative manifestations in political ideology, morality, and lifestyle among officials, Party members, and public servants, first of all leaders and managers at all levels in the locality.

The Steering Board's main tasks are counseling the provincial Party Committee's Standing Board on developing and promulgating resolutions, directives, programs, and plans for concretization, organization, urging, coordination, inspection, and supervision of the implementation of the Party's guidelines and policies and the State's laws against corruption in the locality; directing Party committees and organizations directly under the provincial Party Committee to clarify the reasons and conditions for corruption to arise through activities within their assigned responsibilities, the responsibility of heads of agencies and organizations for the occurrence of corruption there, and loopholes and inadequacies in mechanisms, policies, and laws to demand authorized agencies, organizations, units, and people to take measures to prevent and remedy violations; and proposing amendment, supplementation, and perfection of relevant mechanisms, policies, and laws.

The Steering Board also directs Party committees and organizations directly under the provincial Party Committee to lead and direct inspection, supervision, investigation, prosecution, trial, and execution in anti-corruption following the Party's regulations and the State's laws, especially complicated corruption cases of public concern.

According to Pham Dinh Bay, Chairman of the War Veterans Association of Nam Sach district, members of the association and local people pin their hopes on and believe in the Steering Board.

"The provincial Steering Board needs a "stoker" to avoid perfunctory, ineffective, or formal activities," stated the chairman of the War Veterans Association of Nam Sach district.

Over the past time, there have been many negative manifestations in management in the fields of finance, natural resources, minerals, real estate, auction, public investment, health care, etc., causing inconvenience to people. They hope that the Steering Board will soon rectify and handle these fields to step by step build people's confidence.

Many Party members and civilians also desire that in the coming time, the Steering Board will be able to mobilize the power of the whole political system to join in anti-corruption.

Hoang Van Ngau (80 years old, 58 years in the Party) in residential area 1, Thanh Binh ward, Hai Duong city, said: "The Steering Board as well as relevant authorities should objectively and fairly tackle all corruption cases found with the right offenders, right crimes, and no "forbidden zone" and widely inform the masses."

In addition, many people expect that the Steering Board will create an effective mechanism for authorities, heads, officials, and Party members to constantly improve their political qualities, morality, and lifestyle, intensify the learning and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, and take anti-corruption measures for agencies, units, and individuals.

While handling public affairs, officials and Party members should promptly deal with legitimate opinions and recommendations of people to detect and tackle corrupt acts.
