The Festival of Practices Related to Vietnamese Beliefs in Mother Goddesses of Three Realms is one of eight programs at the 2023 Hai Duong – Chi Linh Festival.
The festival is taking place at Mau Sinh and Thanh Hoa temples in Le Loi commune, Chi Linh city on September 29 and 30, with the participation of 18 meritorious artists and mediums from Hai Duong, Ha Noi, Hai Phong, Bac Ninh, Quang Ninh, Hung Yen, Nghe An, Nam Dinh, and Bac GiangHistorian Le Van Lan (2nd from left) and a number of delegates attending the festivalThanh dong (medium) are those directly perform mediumship ceremoniesMedium La Thi Tam, head of Ninh Giang Vong Tu shrine, is from Ha Noi with four mediumship performancesShe is covered with a piece of red silk by an assistant after each performance, then removes it and changes clothes, flags, and offeringsThe costumes of mediums are varied depending on the content of each performance, clearly showing the characteristics and origin of the saint mentionedMembers of the mediumship orchestra sing hat van (spiritual singing) to express wishes for good health, success, fame…, contributing to the success of each performancePeople participate in performances at Mau Sinh templeThere are six mediums going into a trance at Mau Sinh temple on September 29.
