The Department of Industry and Trade has issued a plan to organize activities in response to Earth Hour 2023, a worldwide lights-off movement to raise public awareness about environmental issues.
Accordingly, unnecessary lights and electrical equipment in the province will be switched off from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on March 25.
The Department of Industry and Trade suggested that sectors and localities increase propaganda through the media, banners, panels, and posters in densely populated areas, on some main roads in Hai Duong city, and at the headquarters of agencies in the province’s districts, town, and cities to bring practical effects for the campaign.
Hai Duong Power Co., Ltd. shall intensify coordination with agencies to popularize Earth Hour.
It will also collaborate with Hai Duong Urban Work Management JSC. to reach agreement on locations where lights will be turned off during Earth Hour.
Earth Hour 2023 marks Vietnam's 14th participation in the campaign.
During last year’s event, Hai Duong joined other cities and provinces in turning off lights for one hour, helping save 36,200 kWh out of 309,000 kWh of electricity across the country.
Earth Hour is an annual international campaign initiated by the World Wildlife Fund in 2007 to raise public awareness about climate change and energy saving and has since gained millions of supporters in over 190 countries and territories worldwide.
