Education in focus

A lot of children in Hai Duong city were delighted to study in newly-built, clean, and spacious classrooms in the 2024 - 2025 academic year. This was the result of the city authorities’ investment of more than 144 billion VND in the construction of 60 new classrooms.

At the same time, the city government renovated classrooms at 42 schools, received sponsorships to purchase teaching equipment for 25 others, and continued to reserve large funds for school construction and renovation in its public investment plan.

Aside from better material facilities, a lot of schools in the city have adopted new teaching methods, shifting away from textbook-heavy approaches and focusing more on experiential activities and meaningful playgrounds. As a result, children are more enthusiastic about learning, with good habits and skills developed.

The city has also organized various programs, activities, and competitions related to educational development to nurture children’s creativity.

Thanh Ha district also considers a strong focus on education as a key solution for achieving child development goals. Recently, the district has reviewed and assessed the condition of local schools to plan construction investments that meet children's learning and recreational needs.

Ahead of each school year, the district always allocates 30 - 50 billion VND to improve school infrastructure. Some communes and towns have even postponed less urgent investments to concentrate resources on education.

Health care

In the National Action Program for Children for the 2021 - 2030 period, health care and nutrition for children are core tasks, with five specific targets related to comprehensive care support, mortality rate, malnutrition, immunization, and prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission.

Over the past time, Hai Duong province has placed emphasis on improving healthcare quality and ensuring child health alongside education.

Cam Giang district is home to more than 40,000 children, over 13,400 of whom are under six years old. The district always takes timely healthcare measures for children. Communes and towns in the district have stepped up inspections and outreach to encourage parents to ensure full immunization for their children. All schools in the district have health staff on site.

Recently, the district Health Center has assigned sufficient numbers of doctors to grassroots health stations to ensure initial medical care for residents, including children.

According to the provincial Department of Health, thanks to close attention and direction from authorities at all levels and sectors, the province has always exceeded the set targets for child health care, with indicators higher than the national average.

In 2024, the vaccination rate for children under one year old in the province reached 95.5%; the mortality rate for children under one was 0.9‰, and for children under five, it was 1.7‰. The malnutrition rate among children under five was 11.6%. Most 2024 indicators surpass the targets by 2030 set by the province.

According to a survey conducted at the end of 2024, Hai Duong province had more than 491,000 children, accounting for over 25% of the population. Each year, the province allocates approximately 4,000 - 5,000 billion VND to implement child development goals.

In particular, local Party committees and authorities have given high priority to education and health care, fields closely tied to child development. Building strong foundations in these areas will help children grow comprehensively both physically and mentally. Investing in children is a solid base for long-term sustainable development.
