Dragon fruit growing area to be expanded to 1,000 ha

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has oriented the expansion of the dragon fruit growing area to 1,000 ha by 2025.

At present, there are 320 ha of dragon fruit in Hai Duong province, concentrated in Chi Linh city (140 ha), Thanh Ha district (70 ha), Kinh Mon provincial town (50 ha), etc., with an annual yield of about 3,500 tons.

Among fruit trees in the province, dragon fruit has relatively high production value, from VND200 – 250 million/ ha/ year, only after guava and custard-apple.

From actual production, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has oriented the expansion of the dragon fruit growing area to 1,000 ha in all districts, cities, and the provincial town (except for Binh Giang district) by 2025.

Chi Linh city will be the key dragon fruit growing region of the province with an expected area of 600 ha, followed by Kinh Mon provincial town with 130 ha, Thanh Ha district with 110 ha, etc.
