ICOMOS experts' report is one of the important bases for UNESCO to consider and recognize the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex as a world heritage site.
Experts from the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) – an organization that offers advice to UNESCO on world heritage sites – are conducting a field trip to Hai Duong province to appraise a nomination dossier for seeking UNESCO’s recognition of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex as a world heritage site.
The team surveyed Nham Duong pagoda and Kinh Chu cave in Kinh Mon town on August 12, and Kiep Bac temple, Con Son pagoda, and Thanh Mai pagoda in Chi Linh city are their destinations today (August 13).
After surveying the relics in Kinh Mon, ICOMOS expert Ratish Nanda highly appreciated the local authorities’ efforts in zoning and protecting the relics.
This is an important assessment by the ICOMOS experts. The team’s report is one of the important bases for UNESCO to consider and recognize the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex as a world heritage site.
The dossier on the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex is the first that covers three provinces with 20 relic points and clusters, including one national relic and seven special national ones.
Earlier this year, the dossier was submitted to UNESCO for world heritage recognition. If recognized, this will be the second inter-provincial world heritage site in Vietnam after Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago in Quang Ninh province and Hai Phong city.
