Name ‘Yen Tu – Con Son and Kiep Bac Relic and Landscape Complex’ proposed for submission to UNESCO

A representative of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Hai Duong province proposed the change of name to respect scientific, historical, and geographical values.

The People’s Committees of Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, and Hai Duong provinces and a dossier compiling consultancy held a preliminary consultation conference in Quang Ninh on April 13 morning to determine globally outstanding values of Yen Tu relic and landscape complex (Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, and Hai Duong).

At the conference, experts specified necessary and urgent requirements to work out and submit a dossier meeting the requirements and ensuring progress to the UNESCO for recognition of Yen Tu relic and landscape complex as a world heritage site.

In which, it is necessary to further clarify the globally outstanding values, the authenticity and integrity of relics. The dossier compilation must follow the UNESCO’s new form…

At the event, a representative of the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Hai Duong province proposed that the name of the dossier should be changed from Yen Tu Relic and Landscape Complex (Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, and Hai Duong) to Yen Tu – Con Son and Kiep Bac Relic and Landscape Complex to respect scientific, historical, and geographical values.

Nguyen Manh Ha, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Quang Ninh province, absorbed suggestions of experts and representatives of the two other provinces and affirmed that as the chairing unit, Quang Ninh will request the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to consider the proposal to change the name of the dossier.

As expected, draft and official dossiers will be submitted to the UNESCO before September 30, 2022 and February 1, 2023, respectively.
