Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2024 kicks off

The Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2024 opened at Con Son - Kiep Bac special national relic site in Chi Linh city, Hai Duong province on September 18 evening, along with a ceremony to commemorate the 724^th death anniversary of National Hero Tran Hung Dao.

Hai Duong is a land with a long history, rich in cultural and revolutionary traditions, and one of the cradles of the Red River civilization, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Le Ngoc Chau said in his opening speech.

Van Kiep, also known as Kiep Bac, is a military, cultural, and economic area of ​​Chi Linh. After the first resistance war against the Yuan-Mongol invaders in 1258, Lord Tran Hung Dao chose Van Kiep to build military camps, making it the command center of the military defense line in the Northeast region, stretching from the Lang Son border to the East Sea, creating a position to fight the Yuan-Mongol invaders for the second time in 1285 and the third time in 1288.

After the victory in 1288, Lord Tran Hung Dao retired to his private residence in Van Kiep and passed away there on August 20, 1300.

Since then, the worship of Saint Tran has become unique intangible cultural heritage and been preserved from generation to generation of Vietnamese people.

This year's autumn festival takes place at a time when experts are coming to the three provinces of Hai Duong, Quang Ninh, and Bac Giang to appraise a dossier seeking UNESCO’s recognition of Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac monument and landscape complex as a world heritage site. In which, with their outstanding values, Con Son - Kiep Bac special national relic site and Thanh Mai pagoda (also in Chi Linh) will make an important contribution to affirming and demonstrating the integrity and authenticity of the heritage complex.

Taking place on the same day at Kiep Bac relic were a seal opening and seal mark granting ceremony; the 582nd death anniversary of National Hero, World Cultural Celebrity Nguyen Trai; the opening of the Culture, Tourism, and Trade Promotion Week; and an exhibition of Tran Dynasty antiques.

Today (September 19), there will be activities within the framework of the Culture, Tourism, and Trade Promotion Week; water puppetry performances; and the opening of a trance performance festival at the relic.
