Tourists to Hai Duong up nearly 60%

An estimated 1.5 million tourists visited Hai Duong province in the first six months of 2024, a surge of nearly 59.3% year on year, reported the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The province served more than 39,000 international visitors and over 1.4 million domestic ones during the reviewed period, up nearly 52.6% and 59.5%, respectively.

The large number of visitors brought about 623.6 billion VND in revenue for the provincial tourism sector, a rise of close to 54.5%.

It is forecast that the number of holidaymakers coming to Hai Duong will continue to sharply increase in the coming time.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has surveyed 19 relics and selected nine that are eligible to request provincial-level ranking and one for national-level ranking.

Hai Duong is coordinating with Quang Ninh and Bac Giang provinces to prepare necessary conditions to welcome international experts to conduct field evaluation of a scientific dossier seeking UNESCO’s recognition for the complex of Yen Tu – Vinh Nghiem – Con Son, Kiep Bac monuments and landscapes as a world heritage site, and is making preparations for the Con Son - Kiep Bac Autumn Festival 2024.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proposed the provincial People's Committee allocate capital to localities to build tourism infrastructure at tourist destinations and repair typical relics to attract more visitors.
