South Korean businesses seek hi-tech agriculture investment opportunities in Hai Duong

The South Korean businesses are expected to invest in hi-tech agriculture and preliminary processing to heighten the value of the province's agricultural products.

A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Deputy Minister Le Quoc Doanh and leaders of Royal K Corporation and Hi-Tech Farm JSC. from South Korea on June 29 morning worked with the provincial People's Committee to seek opportunities to invest in hi-tech agriculture in Hai Duong.

Leaders of Royal K and Hi-Tech Farm JSC. under the corporation desired that the provincial authorities would arrange about 120 ha of land to build a hi-tech agricultural model.

The businesses will carry out the project with a practical commercial solution system of a smart and modern farm.

They will also coordinate with other units to synchronize production processes and apply advanced technology to increase production value.

Besides research and development of exclusive strawberry varieties, the South Korean investors will also prioritize the application of high technology to some staple agricultural products of the province.

Royal K is a prestigious South Korean enterprise in technology and hi-tech agricultural research and application.

Since 2019, the corporation has studied and cooperated on investment in developing smart agriculture in Vietnam.

Earlier, through Hi-Tech Farm JSC., the unit signed memoranda of understanding on cooperation in developing hi-tech agriculture with the provinces of Cao Bang, Nghe An, Lam Dong, etc.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan affirmed that Hai Duong has potential and advantages in agricultural development, especially hi-tech agriculture.

Compared to other localities, Hai Duong's agricultural area is not large, but the province has diverse staple farm produce and brands.

The province has a favorable geographical position for export of agricultural products. Many strong agricultural products of the province like carrot, lychee, cabbage, etc. have been successfully exported to South Korea.

On the other hand, in recent years, the provincial authorities have paid attention to applying high technology to production with many support policies and mechanisms, gradually forming a modern agriculture. This is a basis to build trust for South Korean businesses wanting to learn about investment in the field in Hai Duong.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan desired that the South Korean businesses would invest in hi-tech agriculture and preliminary processing to heighten the value of the province's agricultural products.

Hai Duong authorities will create favorable conditions for the enterprises to research and come to an investment decision.

During surveys and research on investment, functional agencies of the province will support the companies with information for project making.

At the investors' request for clean grounds, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Tran Van Quan pledged that the provincial authorities would remove difficulties and review and adjust planning to have suitable land for the scale of the project.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Quoc Doanh emphasized that if successful, the hi-tech agricultural project of the South Korean businesses would create momentum for the development of Hai Duong agriculture.

Therefore, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will be a bridge between the two sides for the project to be carried out.

The deputy minister suggested that apart from studying hi-tech production, the South Korean businesses should care about investing in deep processing to close the link and supply chain and elevate the level of Hai Duong's agricultural products.
