An exhibition of more than 800 antiques, including two national treasures, is taking place in Hai Duong province.
The Hai Duong Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Xu Dong Antiquities Association jointly opened the 1st exhibition themed ‘Quintessence of Hai Duong antiques’ and announced the Prime Minister's decision recognizing the province’s Hiep An brown-flowered ceramic jar from the Tran Dynasty as a national treasure on October 19.
This is one of the two units’ meaningful activities to honor the cultural heritage value of antiques in Hai Duong province.
On display at the exhibition are two out of 11 national treasures of the province, which are kept and displayed at the provincial Museum, namely Hiep An brown-flowered ceramic jar and Huu Chung bronze drum.
The event also features more than 800 antiques of nearly 60 collectors inside and outside the province, including many collections of special value.
The exhibits are diverse in materials, types, and decorative styles. All of them are typical antiques dating from the Dong Son culture to the early 20th century, deserving to be the quintessence of Hai Duong antiques.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung asked the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism to ensure absolute safety for the two national treasures.
“Storing facilities should be renovated at once to meet the needs of preserving documents, artifacts, and antiques at the provincial Museum,” Hung added.
Lasting until November 3, the exhibition will help visitors enjoy and learn more about precious antiques, and researchers and collectors have materials for reference and comparison to authentically evaluate antiquities.
