Provincial People's Committee Chairman Trieu The Hung promotes investment in Japan

Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung and the delegation visit a booth of fine handicrafts and some typical products of Hai Duong province at AEON

At the invitation of Mr. Koichi Shiota, Governor of Kagoshima prefecture, Japan, a Hai Duong provincial delegation set off for Japan on July 13 under the leadership of Mr. Trieu The Hung, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

Joining in the delegation are Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Quan and representatives of some departments, sectors, localities, and businesses in the province.

The delegation attended the 2022 Hai Duong Trade and Investment Promotion Conference at the Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo, Japan.

The event attracted the participation of a large number of Japanese entrepreneurs, businesses, investors, journalists, etc.

At the conference, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Trieu The Hung provided some specific information about Hai Duong province.

He appreciated the increasingly important and effective contributions of Japanese investors in Hai Duong.

To date, there have been 60 projects from Japan with a total capital of nearly 1.5 billion USD, ranking second in the number of projects and FDI inflows into the province.

In 2021, the export turnover of Japanese enterprises in Hai Duong amounted to 915 million USD, accounting for 9.3% of the province’s export turnover and contributing 12.4% of Hai Duong’s GRDP.

The chairman of the provincial People's Committee respectfully thanked the Japanese Government, the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam, the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the Association of Japanese Entrepreneurs in Vietnam for their constant confidence, support, and promotion of investment in Hai Duong; acknowledged and thanked Japanese businesses and entrepreneurs for their effective investment and contribution to the provincial development.

At the conference, the Vietnam Business Association in Japan (VJBA) and the Department of Industry and Trade of Hai Duong province contracted for coordination in promoting consultancy, connection of trade in goods and services, and investment in member enterprises of the association and businesses in Hai Duong province.

At the end of the conference, delegates visited a booth of fine handicrafts and some typical products of Hai Duong province together.

Earlier, as soon as arriving in Tokyo, the delegation had a working session with AEON Group. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan Vu Hong Nam attended the session.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung emphasized that the meeting between the leaders of the People's Committee of Hai Duong province and AEON Group was an important content within the framework of the delegation's working program in Japan.

Representatives of the Vietnam Business Association in Japan and the Department of Industry and Trade of Hai Duong province signs a cooperation program

With trust and experience in investment in Vietnam, Hai Duong hoped that AEON Group would come to invest in trade centers in Hai Duong.

Hai Duong authorities were willing to prepare conditions to have clean grounds at the locations selected by the group and pledged to accompany, support, and best facilitate the implementation of its investment projects in Hai Duong.

Starting investment in Vietnam in 2014, AEON Group is now present in various provinces and cities and studying investment in Hai Duong.

AEON sold the first five tons of Vietnamese specialty of lychee in 2020 and up to 22 tons in 2022, most of which were from Thanh Ha, Hai Duong.

On the afternoon of the same day, the delegation continued to have many investment and trade promotion activities with Japanese enterprises and entrepreneurs and Vietnamese businesses in Japan.

Addressing a working session with the JETRO, Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Trieu The Hung suggested that the organization continue to help Hai Duong province in connecting businesses, holding domestic and foreign investment promotion conferences, and co-organizing seminars to solve difficulties and obstacles of enterprises in the province.

On July 14, the provincial delegation will continue to participate in investment and trade promotion activities in its twinned prefecture of Kagoshima.
