The Mong Son Thi Thuc (requiem for forsaken spirits) was held on February 13 at Con Son pagoda by the Organizing Board of the 2023 Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival.

Monks solemnly performed many rituals during the ceremony to pray for world peace, prosperity, and bumper crops.

The requiem was founded in the 14th century by Venerable Huyen Quang, the third progenitor of Truc Lam Zen Buddhism, and successfully restored in 2006.

It aims to show the majesty of Buddhism, mercy, and saving of innumerable forsaken spirits of the underworld in Buddhist concept.

The Mong Son Thi Thuc has long been a typical spiritual feature of the traditional Con Son – Kiep Bac Spring Festival. The restoration and maintenance of the requiem has contributed to promoting intangible cultural values of Con Son – Kiep Bac special national relic site, forming a festival imbrued with the national characters.

Below are some photos of the Mong Son Thi Thuc at Con Son pagoda taken by Hai Duong Newspaper reporters:
