Sim is common in Bac An and Hoang Hoa Tham communes and Ben Tam ward, Chi Linh city.

Many local households grow sim for fruit. Mature trees are shaped and sold to ornamental collectors.

The ripe sim season usually lasts from June to early September. Ripe fruits are currently priced at 25,000 – 30,000 VND/ kg.
