The Hai Duong Newspaper and the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism jointly opened the 11th Teenagers and Children's Chess Tournament for Hai Duong Newspaper Cup at the provincial Gymnasium on August 10.

Nearly 700 players from 10 districts and cities and 10 chess clubs in the province are competing with each other in various age groups from under 6 to 15 years old according to the Swiss system.

The first day of competition took place safely with no complaints or rule infringement, according to the organizers.

Some games last fewer than two minutes, while some others broke the allotted time of 80 minutes.

The players will complete their remaining four matches on August 11, and the organizers will award prizes and end the tournament in the afternoon of the same day.
