200 European billionaires will travel to Ha Long Bay by superyatcht to participate in the Art for Climate Festival in early 2025.
The Art for Climate Festival is expected to draw than 80,000 people to Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province from January 13 - 19, 2025, according to the provincial portal.
Among the participants, there will be 200 European billionaires who will arrive in Ha Long Bay by private superyacht.
The world heritage site of Ha Long Bay was chosen to host the festival thanks to its special and highly symbolic location, according to the organizers.
The project is a combination of art and environmental responsibility to raise awareness of protecting the planet appropriate to current challenges, said French Ambassador to Vietnam Olivier Brochet at the announcement ceremony held last month.
Ha Long Bay welcomes 4,000 - 6,000 visitors/ day, 90% of them are international ones. Despite the impact of Typhoon Yagi, most tourism activities on the bay have returned to normal.
To attract tourists during the fall and winter months, the local authorities have optimized the efficiency of transportation and tourism infrastructure and focused on drawing cruise ship passengers, who arrive in Vietnam through Ha Long International Cruise Port.
Ha Long city served 9.2 million visitors in the first nine months of 2024, a 33% increase year on year.
In particular, the number of foreign arrivals rose by 2.3 times to 2.13 million in comparison with the same period in 2023.
The city recorded some VND20,300 billion in tourism revenue, a surge of 34% against the corresponding period last year.
