Her performance, at the Ho Guom Opera House in Ha Noi, is part of the VinFuture Science and Technology Awards ceremony.
The organizers have not disclosed the show’s setlist. However, they have revealed that most of the songs performed will embody a positive spirit, encouraging resilience and determination to overcome challenges.
Perry has visited Vietnam twice, but has never performed. She attended a 2015 forum in Ho Chi Minh city as a guest, and visited the coastal Ninh Thuan province a year later as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund.
Born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, Perry, 39, is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 143 million records sold worldwide.
Along with her influence on modern pop music, the American singer is also known for her active participation in social work, including advocating for the rights of children and the LGBT community throughout many years.
The VinFuture Science and Technology Awards are an annual international award that honors remarkable scientific breakthroughs and promotes innovations for mankind. American singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera performed at the award ceremony last year.
