As the singer showed up on the Ho Guom Opera House’s stage on Wednesday, she sent her greetings to the audience, followed by her expression of gratitude for the invitation and her honor in performing for those who have made a difference to the world.

Accompanied by her backup singers and band, she first performed "Unconditionally." She then expressed her love for Vietnam and extended her thanks to the audience again.

Her second performance was "Roar," which she also sang at the coronation of King Charles III in May this year.

Concluding the award ceremony after the presentation of the biggest award, the singer returned to the stage and sang "Firework."

According to the event organizers, the songs were picked for their inspiration in overcoming challenges and difficulties.

The event featured a diverse array of musical acts along with Katy Perry’s performances, including Vietnamese conductor Dong Quang Vinh leading a 32-member traditional orchestra performing the national anthem of Vietnam, artist Le Giang captivating with a dan bau (Vietnamese monochord) rendition, and Vietnamese cellist Phan Do Phuc alongside the New Life Orchestra delivering a stirring interpretation of "Symphony No. 9: From The New World."

Katy Perry arrived in Vietnam on Tuesday and stayed at a five-star hotel in the old quarter. The singer spent time wandering around the city, going shopping, and taking photos with her local fans on Wednesday.

The event marks her first time performing in Vietnam, though she has visited Vietnam twice. She attended a 2015 forum in Ho Chi Minh city as a guest, and visited the coastal Ninh Thuan province a year later as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, Katy Perry, 39, is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 143 million records sold worldwide.

Along with her influence on modern pop music, the American singer is also known for her active participation in social work, including advocating for the rights of children and the LGBT community throughout many years.

The VinFuture Science and Technology Awards are an annual international award that honors remarkable scientific breakthroughs and promotes innovations for mankind. American singer-songwriter Christina Aguilera performed at the award ceremony last year.
