China’s Hong Kong makes up the largest proportion, up to 35%, of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Hai Duong province.
As many as 27 countries and territories have invested in Hai Duong province so far, according to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment.
90% of the investors are from Asian countries. Among them, China’s Hong Kong has spent the largest amount of FDI, more than 4.84 billion USD, making up 35% of the total FDI in the province.
Hong Kong has 97 investment projects in the province, ranking 3rd in the number of FDI projects. In which, the Jaks Hai Duong thermal power project is the one with the largest investment of Hong Kong in Hai Duong.
The Hong Kong's projects mainly focus on manufacturing, processing, packaging, paper, plastic, etc.
By the end of 2024, Hai Duong had lured 601 FDI projects with a total registered capital of over 10.9 billion USD.
The province attracted 756 million USD in FDI in 2024 alone, ranking 15th in Vietnam.
93% of the FDI was registered for processing and manufacturing industries.
