Ho Chi Minh city received the prestigious title "Asia’s Leading MICE Tourism Destination" for the fourth consecutive year at the 2023 World MICE Awards gala ceremony recently held in Berlin, Germany.
The annual award also went to the southern Vietnamese metropolis in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
The recognition underscores the city’s position as a top MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) tourism destination, affirming its international appeal and capabilities.
During her reception speech at the gala ceremony in Berlin on Wednesday, Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, emphasized the city's aim to flourish as a premier Asian tourism destination and establish itself as an open, youthful, and desirable city to live in by 2030.
This accolade not only signifies progress toward these goals but also reflects global confidence in the city’s tourism potential.
The department is committed to enhancing the city's MICE infrastructure and services, thereby reinforcing its position on the regional and global tourism map, Hieu said.
Graham Cooke, founder and president of the World Travel Awards, praised Ho Chi Minh city as a unique destination with rich cultural heritage, poised to become a prominent regional and global MICE tourism hub in the future.
The World MICE Awards is an esteemed annual ceremony recognizing outstanding destinations, hotels, airlines, venues, and specialized MICE tourism service providers.
