Hai Duong athletes complete SEA Games 32 with 17 medals

Hai Duong athletes won medals in all sports they competed at SEA Games 32.

Hai Duong athletes finished all competitions at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) on May 16.

13 athletes and one coach cum athlete from the province competed in diving, traditional boat racing, weightlifting, table tennis, fencing, and Arnis at SEA Games 32.

They won a total of 17 medals, including seven golds, four silvers, and six bronzes, in all the sports.

The last two gold medals were grabbed in weightlifting and traditional boat racing on the final day of competition.

Tran Dinh Thang excellently secured one gold medal for lifting a total weight of 359 kg, 1 kg more than his Thai rival Panya.

Thang also broke two SEA Games records.

The other gold was taken by racers Chau Dai Duong, Nguyen Van Cuong, Nguyen Van Viet, and Pham Hong Quan and their teammates in the 12-member 800 m medley.

Hai Duong athletes achieved four golds and three silvers fewer but one bronze more than SEA Games 31.

The main reason is that some of Hai Duong's strengths, including archery, shooting, rowing, and canoeing, were excluded from SEA Games 32.
