Ngo Thi Kim Yen, Vice-chairman of the Da Nang city People’s Committee, has issued letters to enterprises and organizations, inviting them to join the city in organizing the 2023 DIFF.

The competition, held in Da Nang since 2008, features pyro teams from around the world who compete to hold the best firework show of the festival.

The event held its tenth anniversary in 2019 before authorities were forced to suspend it due to the pandemic.

Over its over 10-year lifespan, the DIFF has contributed to Da Nang's reputation as one of Asia's premier festival and event destination.

The fireworks festival has also helped promote Da Nang and Vietnam closer to a wider international audience, creating a youthful and hospitable impression of the city.

On Tuesday, the People’s Committee of Da Nang announced a plan to organize the 2023 edition of the DIFF, which will take place from June 3 to July 8 the following year.

In 2023, the festival will feature a fireworks competition and other events.

The 2023 DIFF’s five competition rounds are expected to feature eight teams, including seven from abroad and one from Da Nang, Vietnam.

Each team’s firework show will last for 20 to 22 minutes and be based on an agreed-upon theme.

The event is expected to cost VND150 billion (US$6 million).

In 2019, Team JoHo Pyro Professional Fireworks AB from Finland was crowned the winner and awarded a trophy and a $10,000 cash prize.
