Transition to “green production”

Brother Industries (Vietnam) Ltd. in Phuc Dien industrial park, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province, is a 100% Japanese-invested company.

The enterprise annually produces 1 million units of printers, fax machines, and electronic devices, alongside approximately 2 million units of accessories, spare parts, components, and details for these machines.

On average, the company consumes 3.2 million kWh of electricity per month for production.

In 2024, the company applied the latest energy-saving technologies to a number of production equipment systems, thereby saving more than 281,000 kWh annually.

The company has also invested in rooftop solar power systems, diversifying its energy sources and reducing reliance on the national grid. It is currently operating two solar power systems with a total generation capacity of 1,006 kW.

Hoa Phat Group consumes large amounts of electricity, water, and coal for steel production; therefore, energy efficiency and environmental protection are its top priorities.

The group has applied clean coke production technology that recovers heat -an environmentally friendly, energy-saving process, at Hoa Phat Hai Duong Iron and Steel Complex, helping the complex have a power generation capacity of 64 MW, covering approximately 70% of electricity needed for production.

The energy transitions as well as the adoption of “green production” processes have allowed these companies to gain green certifications to expand export markets.

Dual benefits

Using renewable energy, including rooftop solar power, is another way for many businesses to achieve green production certifications

The shift to “green production” has brought about dual benefits for enterprises. Not only does it reduce costs and increase competitiveness, but it also represents the collective effort of companies to protect the environment.

By adopting “green production” methods, businesses can boost their competitiveness in international markets. In demanding markets like Europe, the US, and Japan, export products must meet environmental standards. The use of green energy, sustainable production processes, and eco-friendly materials provides a competitive edge for local companies to enter these markets.

Investing in energy-saving equipment or improving existing systems and using green raw materials are long-term solutions that help businesses save on raw material, energy, and waste treatment costs, while also mitigating environmental impacts in case of any accidents.

By embracing “green production” processes, enterprises can build goodwill with consumers and investors, enhancing their reputation and credibility with customers.

Beyond the economic benefits, adopting “green production” is also a way for businesses to contribute to environmental protection, reduce emissions, and deal with climate change.
