First Hai Duong student wins gold medal at Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad

6th grader Doan Tuan Nghia in Hai Duong province has won a gold medal in the final round of the 2024 - 2025 Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad.

Doan Tuan Nghia, a 6th grader of Marie Curie Secondary and High School in Hai Duong city, grabbed a gold medal in the final round of the 2024 - 2025 Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) in Thailand on February 22, announced the school on February 25 morning.

Earlier, Nghia also secured a gold in the national round of the competition.

He is the first student in Hai Duong to win a gold medal at the TIMO.

4 other students of Marie Curie inter-level school system in Hai Duong city also pocketed prizes in the competition, including a consolation prize of 6th grader Pham Trung Kien and silver medals of 5th graders Tran Thanh Long, Dang Le Bao Quan, and Nguyen Minh An.

The five students surpassed many candidates from more than 20 countries to claim the prize and medals.

TIMO is one of prestigious mathematical competitions in the world that is held annually by the Olympiad Champion Education Center from Hong Kong and the Tourism Authority of Thailand.
