A delegation from Hai Duong, led by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Tran Duc Thang, discussed the province’s wastewater treatment project with the Netherlands’ Royal HaskoningDHV Company on October 28 as part of their ongoing working trip to Europe.

This is a consultancy of the Dutch Government on the selection of wastewater treatment projects in developing countries for non-refundable construction aid.

CEO Jasper de Wit gave an overview of the criteria and conditions for projects to be chosen by the Dutch Government to enjoy the aid as well as the company’s principles, purposes, and commitments on quality, sustainable development, and environmental protection.

The firm once advised the Dutch Government to provide non-refundable aid for Hai Duong province to build Cam Thuong Water Plant under the ORET Program in 2007 with a budget of more than 8.5 million EURO.

The plant was put into operation in April 2011, with the quality of exploited and treated water always meeting standards, satisfying Hai Duong city’s needs for clean water.

Hai Duong province has completed and submitted a dossier to Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment proposing the construction of wastewater collection and treatment systems for urban areas in Chi Linh city, Kinh Mon town, and the districts of Gia Loc, Cam Giang, and Nam Sach using non-refundable aid from the Dutch Government and the provincial budget.

Royal HaskoningDHV Company will also recommend the Dutch Government to consider granting non-refundable aid to the project under the DRIVE program.

The Hai Duong delegation is working with Invest International - a Dutch aid consideration agency on October 29 to exchange information about the above project as requested by the province to the Dutch Government, concluding the working trip to Europe.
