Hai Duong socio-economic picture in first half of 2024. Article 1: Economic growth exceeds scenario
Hai Duong province recorded good economic growth in the first six months of 2024, exceeding the set scenario.
Hai Duong province has been realizing socio-economic development tasks for 2024 in the context of mixed advantages and challenges in Vietnam and the world as a whole.
The provincial authorities made a realistic growth plan based on assessing and identifying the situation to take advantage of opportunities and overcome challenges to achieve the best results.
The province also took more measures to improve the business and investment environment, promptly removed difficulties and obstacles in production and business, promoted public investment to gain momentum to lead private investment, etc., thereby creating a new driving force for the provincial socio-economic development.
Hai Duong’s economic growth rate was expected to reach 8.22% in the first six months of 2024 but estimated at 10% in reality, helping the province rank 7th in Vietnam and 3rd in the Red River Delta.
The province’s agro-forestry-aquatic sector was estimated to increase by 3.52% in the first half of the year, coming 26th in the country. Livestock and aquaculture stood out with positive increases of 6.1 and 6.8%, respectively.
The industrial and construction sector maintained growth momentum from the last months of 2023 with an estimated rise of 13.71%, placed 8th in the country.
Industries posted quite even increases, while construction activities grew relatively high because the province actively implemented public investment projects right from the beginning of the year.
The province’s service sector was estimated to rise by 6.9% in the first six months, ranking 25th in the country, and more than 7% in the 2nd quarter of the year.
“Hai Duong’s growth in the first half of 2024 is relatively positive, which is the basis for the province to fulfill or overfulfill the set target of more than 9%,” said Director of the Provincial Statistics Office Pham Ba Dung.
Unless there are major impacts that can turn the situation around, the province's economic growth rate may approximate to 10% in 2024 and exceed 9% in the 2020 – 2025 period, Dung predicted.
