Four Hai Duong-trained players in Vietnam team at AFC Asian U23 Cup
Four players had been trained in Hai Duong province before joining in different clubs and then being called up for the AFC Asian U23 Cup.
Four players used to train in Hai Duong province are in Vietnam's U23 team at the AFC Asian U23 Cup, which is taking place in Qatar from April 15 – May 3, according to some coaches.
Those are Nguyen Manh Hung, Nguyen Hong Phuc, Khuat Van Khang, and Nguyen Quoc Viet. Among them, Nguyen Manh Hung and Nguyen Hong Phuc are natives of Hai Duong.
Nguyen Quoc Viet, U23 Vietnam’s striker, trained in Hai Duong from U10 age group before moving to The Cong Viettel Club from U14 – U15 age groups and then Hoang Anh Gia Lai Club till present day.
Khuat Van Khang, also part of U23 Vietnam’s offensive line, has been playing for The Cong Viettel Club after training in Hai Duong from U11 age group.
In the second match of U23 Vietnam against U23 Malaysia in the group stage of the AFC Asian U23 Cup on April 20, Khuat Van Khang opened the score with a beautiful free kick in the 39th minute, contributing to helping U23 Vietnam win 2 – 0 and secure a spot in the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Nguyen Manh Hung and Nguyen Hong Phuc are playing in the back line of U23 Vietnam.
The Vietnamese team will play U23 Iraq in their next match, scheduled for 0.30 am on April 27 (Vietnam time) at Qatar's Al Janoub Stadium.
