Hoi An beats Bali, Phuket to become Asia's top destination for business travelers
The ancient city of Hoi An has surpassed other regional destinations to be named "Asia's Best Corporate Retreat Destination" at this year’s World MICE Awards ceremony in Germany.
It beat Bali (Indonesia), Jaipur (India), Kyoto (Japan), Langkawi (Malaysia), Phuket (Thailand) and Siem Reap (Cambodia) to be honored in this category.
Hoi An served as a busy international port from the 16th to 19th centuries, as merchant ships from many different countries passed by. It has managed to preserve its tranquility and slow pace of life to become one of the most famous tourist hotspots in Vietnam.
The awards were based on votes cast by industry professionals, the media and consumers.
Ho Chi Minh city was also named Asia's best destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions. JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa was voted Asia's best incentive hotel.
The World MICE Awards, a sister event of the prestigious World Travel Awards, serves to celebrate and reward excellence in business and meetings tourism.
