People’s Artist Bach Tuyet, a 78-year-old cai luong (southern Vietnamese folk music and stage performance) artist, has been named to Forbes’ 50 Over 50: Asia 2024 list, which was released on Wednesday.

The 50 Over 50 list was first published in 2021 and is dedicated to spotlighting women who have proven that success has no age limit.

It includes 50 women who are actively stepping into power in their sixth decade or beyond, according to Forbes.

The women of the third annual 50 Over 50: Asia list hail from 14 countries and territories, and more than two dozen sectors.

They exert their influence in fashion, pharma, finance, and a range of other industries.

Tuyet was introduced by Forbes as a "household staple" in Vietnam, famous for iconic cai luong performances.

She earned a Ph.D. in art in 1995 and, in her 60s, was recognized as a People's Artist, the nation's highest recognition for people in the creative industry.

Forbes also praised Tuyet for winning a 2022 TikTok Vietnam Award for her performance of ‘Ve Nghe Me Ru’ (Coming Home to Listen to Mommy's Lullaby).

Her collaborations with contemporary art forms, including hip-hop, have generated nearly 20 million views.

The Forbes 50 Over 50: Asia 2024 list also features singer Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue; Indian photographer Dayanita Singh; Lee Sue Kyung - CEO of renowned beauty brand SK-II; and Christine Hakim, known as the Grand Dame of Indonesian cinema.

In 2022, Forbes named two Vietnamese to the list, including Thai Huong, known for her revolutionary role in the agriculture sector in Vietnam and chairwoman of milk producer TH Group, and Truong Thi Le Khanh, who founded and built Vinh Hoan into a publicly listed company and the biggest catfish producer in Vietnam since 2010.
