2024 Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival to see many new features

The announcement of the Prime Minister’s recognition of three Buddha statues as national treasures is one of new features of the 2024 Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival.

The next Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring Festival will take place in early 2024 with a series of new activities, Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Hung informed a meeting on the festival preparation on December 26.

The Prime Minister’s recognition of past, present, and future Buddha statues at Con Son pagoda as national treasures will be announced at the opening ceremony of the festival, according to Hung.

Besides, the 690th death anniversary of Venerable Huyen Quang, the 3rd patriarch of Truc Lam Zen, will be organized on a larger scale, Hung added.

A culture, cuisine, tourism, and trade promotion week is another new feature of the 2024 festival with a string of interesting activities, including culinary performances by top Vietnamese chefs, a Hai Duong-characterized ao dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) show, folk games, etc.

The event will be an opportunity to highlight Hai Duong’s culture and cuisine, with the performance of special dishes of the province and arrangement of several zones for visitors to try making unique food of Hai Duong in particular and Vietnam in general.

Last but not least, a running tournament, titled “Heritage Connection Journey,” will be held at the festival for the first time.

This will also be the largest and longest race to ever be organized in Hai Duong province.

The vice chairman of the provincial People's Committee required relevant bodies to proactively work out specific and detailed organization plans and consider live broadcasting some important ceremonies and events of the festival.

He also praised the safe, solemn, and attractive organization of this year’s Con Son - Kiep Bac festivals, which attracted great attention and a lot of festival-goers, actively contributing to promoting the value of the special national relic site in the process of requesting UNESCO to recognize Yen Tu, Vinh Nghiem, and Con Son - Kiep Bac complex as a world heritage site.

On this occasion, the provincial People's Committee rewarded six collectives and 12 individuals with achievements in organizing 2023 Con Son - Kiep Bac Spring and Autumn Festivals.
