Hai Duong gradually realizes green traffic strategy

Hai Duong province has recently taken many actions to realize its green traffic strategy, which is considered the optimal solution to environmental pollution for sustainable improvement of air quality.

Hai Duong defines green energy conversion as the most basic and important task in the course of implementing green growth goals.

The province has worked out a plan with the aim of developing a green traffic system towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050.

The plan is divided into two phases, 2022 – 2030 and 2031 – 2050, involving for fields of road, railway, inland waterway, and urban traffic.

The provincial transportation sector has carried out a lot of tasks to step by step realize the green traffic target.

Nearly 94,400 trees were planted along provincial roads from 2012 to 2022 to create shade and green landscape, purify the air, and reduce environmental pollution.

Environmentally friendly materials have been used to build traffic works, and incandescent lights in road lighting systems were replaced with eco-friendly LED and smart ones to save electricity.

Green and Smart Mobility JSC. officially launched the SM green taxi service in Hai Duong on October 26 with 95 electric cars. Hai Duong is the 19th locality in the country to deploy this service.

The presence of green taxis brought a civilized way to travel with no noise, no smell of gasoline, no emissions, and minimal harm to users' health.

In addition, China’s Wuling Hongguang Mini EV, the best-selling mini EV in the world for the past three years, has been available and sold to the first customers in Hai Duong since early October.

More and more electric car charging stations are also being installed in Hai Duong, including 20 VinFast stations.

It is expected that VinFast will have put 14 more charging stations into operation in Hai Duong by the end of 2023.
