Hai Duong looks to strengthen cooperation on trade union activities with Korean city
Solidarity, friendship, exchanges, and cooperation between the two localities in particular and the two countries in general are expected to be strengthened through trade union activities.
Vice Chairman of the Hai Duong provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung hosted a reception for a delegation of the Confederation of Trade Unions (TU) of Suwon city, the Republic of Korea (RoK), on November 14.
Hung informed the delegation about Hai Duong’s geographical location, infrastructure, and socio-economic development in the first 10 months of 2023.
Hai Duong is one of the leading localities in Vietnam in attracting foreign direct investment with 518 projects worth nearly 10 billion USD from 27 countries and territories.
The RoK has 126 investment projects with a total registered capital of nearly 1.5 billion USD in the province, ranking first in the number of projects and third in capital.
“RoK businesses have contributed to promoting the provincial socio-economic development and provided jobs for more than 70,000 local workers,” said Hung.
Hai Duong has over 291,000 workers, including more than 278,000 TU members, Hung said, adding that TUs at all levels in the province have proactively brought into play their role in building a strong TU team with a high sense of discipline and firm professional skills.
The vice chairman suggested that TUs of the two localities frequently carry out cooperative activities and share information and experience to improve their capability and promote their role as representatives protecting legitimate interests of workers.
He expected that solidarity, friendship, exchanges, and cooperation between the two localities in particular and the two countries in general would be strengthened through TU activities.
One day earlier, the Hai Duong provincial Confederation of Labor had a working session with the Suwon city Confederation of TUs to share experience in TU activities.
